Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Apache, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A hand-woven basket crafted from natural plant fibers in hues of light beige and dark brown. The circular vessel features flexible walls as well as a sturdy rim, and the basin is decorated across most surfaces with brown geometric forms. The central checkerboard panel could perhaps represent the barrier between the living and their deceased ancestors, or it could perhaps be a layer of clouds between mortals and gods. Size: 14.44" Diameter x 4.375" H (36.7 cm x 11.1 cm)

- Condition: Rim stabilized in 1 area with visible adhesive. Chipping and small losses to fibers along exterior surfaces and primarily beneath base, with slight bending to overall form, otherwise in nice condition. Great coloration. Previous inventory label beneath base.
