Far East, Thailand, ca, 19th Century CE.  Beautifully done in bronze depicting Bhumisparha Mudra in Lotus Seat.  Beautiful facial expression manifesting inner piece, A mudra in a Buddha statue is a gesture and body posture holding special meanings and commemorating few of the important moments in the Buddha's life. One of the most common and popular mudras which are found depicted in Buddha statues is the Bhumisparhamudra, translated as the earth touching gesture. on the bottom you will find kneeling monks and a wheel of Darma and a lion. A very large and fine example! Size: 29" H x 24" W x 13-1/2" L.
