Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A fabulous pottery figure of a male, rendered at an impressive scale and displayed nude as he stands with both hands on his chest. Adorned with black, red, and white pigments, the figure gazes forward from almond-shaped eyes, his mouth ajar as though in awe of what is before him as a 3-pointed headdress crowns his head. Thick legs support his hollow body, which features prominent genitalia. Size: 5.1" L x 7.7" W x 18" H (13 cm x 19.6 cm x 45.7 cm); 19.3" H (49 cm) on included custom stand.
