Description:

Roman Empire, 42 BCE. One of the rarest and all-time most important coins ever struck. Minted to commemorate the March 15 assassination of Julius Caesar in the year 44 BCE, in a silver Denarius denomination it shows the head of Brutus on the obverse and two Roman daggers (the weapons wielded on Caesar on that fateful day) on the reverse with the "cap of liberty" in the center and Eid Mar below. Coin has been analyzed in the United Kingdom by Dr. Gerry McDonnell, Archaeometallurgy Labs to determine its authenticity and passed with flying colors. This coinage earned the #1 ranking by a consortium of collectors and dealers in the “100 Greatest Ancient Coins” book published by Harlan Berk. Size: 3.4 grams, 18mm D.
