Pre-Columbian, north coast Peru, Tembladera, an ancient burial site in the Jequetepeque Valley, ca. 700 - 400 BCE. Pottery, kneeling male figure with a tray on his back. Polychrome coloration and incised detailing. The Chavin art of Tembladera is contemporary with, and very similar to that of, Cupisnique, but tends to be more flamboyant. Size: 6"H x 8" at widest. An extraordinary piece!
