Note the lovely illustrations including: sun at left, crescent moon in the center, compass rose at lower center, and an inscription at the lower right that reads, "This map of the world is drawn according to the projection of Gerard Kremer or Gerardus Mercator, by his good neighbor. Thanks, Hendrik Van Loon 21/5 XXXII". Below the map is a beautiful drawing of an Old World European landscape (right) across the seas from a New World landscape of the Americas (left).
