Description:

Starts at $350/B> Pre-Columbian terracotta vessel in the form of a squash, from the ancient Colima region of West Mexico, circa 200 B.C. - 200 A.D. Measures approximately 11 1/2" wide by about 8 1/2" tall. The impressive form of this vessel is that of a squash or pumpkin, popular among collectors of Colima vessels. Despite the obvious ancient damage and repair (simply reglued from original fragments), this is an honest, unquestionably authentic example with it's surface in original condition. Displays impressively. Provenance: Former N.C., USA private collection. Authenticity Guaranteed The starting price is the price at which the piece can sell.

  • Notes: All items in this auction have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids, papered by our parent company, Artemis Gallery Ancient Art, as well as Antiquities-Saleroom.
  • Condition: Repaired from original fragments, simply re-glued with no restoration or fill. Loss of some smaller fragments, as visible in the photos. Heavy root marks and mineral deposits remain on the ancient surface, attesting to the authenticity of this example. Otherwise, expected weathering, wear, chipping, abrasions, loss and paint loss for an unrestored example.
