Ancient Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan/Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A sizable yet elegant wheel-thrown pottery vessel of bulbous form with a short sloped shoulder and thick flared rim all supported by a circular base. The impressive jar is adorned with 3 registers of lovely diagonal incised striations along its shoulder with one ring of a vertical ridged motif embellishing the edge of the shoulder and gorgeous remaining paint of verdant green, terracotta, and cream hues. Nice russet toned earthen deposits add a varied aspect to the ancient vessel's smooth exterior. Size: 15.2" in diameter x 16" H (38.6 cm x 40.6 cm)
