Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan/Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A large vessel with an apple-shaped body, short neck, and flared rim - all sitting on a low, flat, round foot. The body of the vessel is finished with a pale beige slip with abstract black line patterns around the shoulder and rim. These include zigzag lines that look like flying birds and cross-hatched hourglass forms. This large vessel is from one of the oldest ceramic traditions in the world. Size: 12.75" W x 10" H (32.4 cm x 25.4 cm)
