Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Incan Empire, ca. 1200 to 1520 CE. A large, heavy ceremonial axe head, expertly cast from thick copper which has now attained a beautiful mottled green patina. The axe has an oblong form with two projecting lateral ends comprising the butt; it would have been hafted around the narrowed point. The bulbous blade end has two semi-flat faces which taper to an acutely-angled edge. Size: 4.75" W x 6" H (12.1 cm x 15.2 cm); 6.45" H (16.4 cm) on included custom stand.
