Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Chihuahua region, Casas Grandes, Ramos Polychrome type, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. A beautiful pottery vessel of tiered form with a carinated spherical body, a narrower upper body, and a thick, flared rim. The beige-hued exterior is decorated with a series of intricate black linear motifs that are further emphasized with applied red pigment. A checkered band separates the motifs along the upper body from those on the lower body, both exhibiting zigzagging stripes and geometric forms. The most exceptional Casas Grandes vessels are of the Ramos Polychrome type which required great skill and aesthetic vision. Size: 9.59" W x 8.375" H (24.4 cm x 21.3 cm)
