Description:

Southern India, Chola Period, ca. 11th - 12th century CE. Monumental masterpiece carved out of a single slab of granite showing great detail. The finely carved sculpture depicting the four-armed deity standing erect, his upper right hand holding his attribute the discus, the lower left hand resting on his hip. He wears a tall crown and a rich suite of accoutrements. He is clad in a closely-fitted dhoti secured at his waist by an elaborate girdle centering a kirtimukha. Size is 48"H (121,9 cm) + custom stand. PLEASE NOTE: Due to size/weight of this lot, crating will be required. Be sure to inquire about shipping cost before bidding.
