Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast of Mexico, northern Veracruz region, Huastec culture, ca. 600 to 900 CE. A mold-formed pottery vessel of lobed form, perhaps representing a gourd, with a stylized female head projecting from the top. The face is comprised of almond eyes, painted cheeks and lips, and a centrally-parted coiffure, all in front of a tubular handle rising from the verso. Size: 6.4" L x 6.3" W x 7.375" H (16.3 cm x 16 cm x 18.7 cm)
