Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Wari (Huari) culture, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A beautiful poncho vest comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of wheat, grapefruit, chocolate, and teal. The poncho boasts a central slit to insert one's head, and closed sides to ensure the garment stays on the body. A quartet of abstract red-and-blue zoomorphic figures accentuate each panel of the poncho, though they appear to have been added on during modern times. A lovely example of fine Peruvian clothing! Size: 17.25" W x 20" H (43.8 cm x 50.8 cm).
