Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Huari (Wari) culture, ca. 8th to 10th century CE. A beautiful four-cornered hat with a characteristically square top and flowing tassels, all comprised from tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of teal, fuchsia, cream, wheat, azure, and coffee. Each side of the hat depicts an abstract standing anthropomorphic figure with upheld arms, three-toed feet, and a rectangular body. The lateral edges display panels of alternating colors enclosed within concentric borders of additional colors, and the pale-red tassels have varying colors of thread at their bases. Size: 8.5" W x 4" H (21.6 cm x 10.2 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.
