Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Huari (Wari) culture, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. A hand-built pottery jar bearing a pair of left-facing birds in flight. Each abstract avian features a dark aquiline beak, a large eye, and zigzagging bodies adorned with feathers. Red frames with white bullseyes frame the creatures while vibrant stripes adorn the spouts and handle. Size: 6.25" Diameter x 8" H (15.9 cm x 20.3 cm)

  • Condition: Repair/restoration to spouts and handle, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and minor nicks, with chipping and light fading to pigment, and light earthen deposits. Nice preservation to decorations.
