Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A wonderful wooden White Bear or Hon Kachina doll from the Third Mesa, adorned in animal hide, plumage, yarn, fur, and seashells. Grasping a bow and a rattle, the elaborate figure wears a fox skin ruff, a breech clout, a sash at his side, and red moccasins. His mask features a long snout with jagged teeth, as well as bear tracks beneath each eye. Bear Kachinas appear in the Mixed Kachina Dance and are said to be very powerful and have the ability to heal the sick. Size: 5.3" W x 13.4" H (13.5 cm x 34 cm)
