Description:

Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Early Bronze Age II, ca. 3000 to 2700 BCE. An elegant pottery pitcher displaying a bulbous, ovoid body surmounted by a slender, tubular neck and a gently flared rim, all sitting upon a planar base. A smooth, red-hued slip envelops the vessel, while a ribbon-form handle gracefully arches outward from the rim and ends at the sloped shoulder. This style of vessel is known as "Abydos Ware", so named by early archaeologists who first found them in mortuary contexts in Egypt, although they were made in the Holy Land. Size: 4.3" Diameter x 7.1" H (10.9 cm x 18 cm); 7.8" H (19.8 cm) on included custom stand.
