Ancient Holy Land, Judea, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A hand-built pottery vessel depicting an expressive bull standing atop a quartet of nubbin legs. The bulbous, hollow body is surmounted by a circular spout in front of a handle that doubles as the tail, and a tapered neck projects upwards from the front. A stylized bull head bears a pair of hemispherical eyes within recessed sockets, a snub-nose snout with a protruding tongue, and a pair of curving horns, all above a semicircular spout. A charming zoomorphic vessel from ancient Judea! Size: 6.9" W x 4.7" H (17.5 cm x 11.9 cm)
