Description:

Ancient Rome, Republic era, ca. 90 to 52 BCE. Two ancient silver denarius coins, first Q. Titius with head of Bacchus on obverse and Pegasus on reverse. Other P. Clodius with Apollo in profile on obverse, Diana Lucifera standing right, holding two long torches on reverse. Both set into brooch made of 22kt gold with ROMA in high relief between the coins. Very fine gold craftsmanship; brooch probably made in the late 19th to early 20th century. Size: 2.75" W x .875" H (7 cm x 2.2 cm)

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-Frances Artuner collection, Belgium, acquired in the 1960s
