Henry L. Pancher (American, 1910-1994). "Pa's Coon Dogs" oil on board, June 1986. Signed on lower right. A fabulous folk art painting by self-taught Outsider Artist Henry L. Pancher. The composition features a horse-drawn wagon occupied by more than a dozen people, following five white coonhounds referred to as "Pa's Coon Dogs" in the title. Neatly stacked hay bales imaginatively rendered in shades of blue and lavender mark the field to their right; rolling lavender hills rise beyond the black fence; stars twinkle in the night sky as the full moon shines in cool shades of blue and violet. Among the most intriguing elements of this composition is a large sky blue orb, perhaps representing loose pieces of hay that have yet to be arranged in a bale. This almost magical entity was meticulously delineated via Pancher's impressive palette knife work to create an enchanting impasto presence. Size (sight view): 11.5" L x 15.625" W (29.2 cm x 39.7 cm) Size of frame: 19.375" L x 23.5" W (49.2 cm x 59.7 cm)

He also created especially for California Artists a Christmas card design titled 'Home For Christmas' for reproduction purposes."
