Description:

Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 2nd century BCE. A graceful terracotta spindle jar exhibiting a tall form with a wide foot and elongated pedestal base, a slender piriform body, a cylindrical neck, narrow mouth, and a collared rim. Spindle vessels like these would have been used to hold scented perfumes or other less-common oils. Size: 1.8" W x 7.4" H (4.6 cm x 18.8 cm); 9.9" H (25.1 cm) on included custom stand.
