Description:

Classical Antiquities. Greece, Hellenistic period, ca. 2nd to 1st century BCE. A gorgeous glass hemispherical bowl with a concave bottom, rounded sides, a deep bowl cavity, a thin rim, and two interior wheel-cut grooves near the midsection and lip. This bowl would likely have been used for drinking or serving, and would have been near-transparent with a pale green appearance. A fiery layer of silvery and rainbow-colored iridescence blankets the surface and imbues the appearance with a dazzling array of chromatic variations. Hellenistic glass is among the most beautiful and highly-prized ancient glass. Size: 6" W x 1.75" H (15.2 cm x 4.4 cm).
