Description:

Northwestern Iran, ca. late 2nd to early 1st millennium BCE. I am calling these shield bosses instead of cymbals (as we have seen similar examples called such) because of their weight and size. These are very heavy cast bronze rounded objects with raised centers, hole in center for attachment, outer edge and area just below raised "boss" decorated with incised repeating saw tooth design and small star at opening. Nice pair! Size: 6.625" W (16.8 cm)
