Description:

Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan / Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A finely-detailed terracotta example of some of the earliest decorated pottery in central Asia. This is a short, cylindrical vessel that sits on a flat, undecorated base. A narrow mouth with a slightly flared spout is directly in the center of the vessel, which has flat shoulders, The body is painted primarily with deep maroon motifs depicting a bird in flight, a grazing antelope, and various leaf and linear designs. A lovely example of Indus Valley craftsmanship! Size: 4.625" W x 3.25" H (11.7 cm x 8.3 cm).

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.
