Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A strand of 30 hand-carved stone beads featuring solid and mottled hues of brown, green, beige, cream, gray, and tan. The beads exhibit discoid, conical, spherical tubular, oblong, and barrel forms, and 1 of the larger greenstone beads bears a minimally-carved visage. Each is drilled with a suspension hole so it can be restrung for a more comfortable wear. Size (largest bead): 2" L x 1.25" W (5.1 cm x 3.2 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s
