Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero Mezcala, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. Adorable stone frog, finely carved from a banded stone of grey, white, and sienna hues, squatting on all fours with incised webbed feet, and presenting an endearing visage with delineated eyes (one with an inlay of perhaps hematite), recessed nostrils that once may have held inlays, and an open mouth. Size: 6.25" L x 3.875" W x 2.625" H (15.9 cm x 9.8 cm x 6.7 cm)

Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.
