Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 100 BCE. A hand-carved greenstone figure of characteristically abstract form with deep, string-cut grooves that define the legs, arms, hands, and neck. The conical head rises above the rounded shoulders and presents a shallow groove for the mouth, a sizable nose, and smooth, flat planes that create the cheeks and brow. Size: 2.25" W x 6.625" H (5.7 cm x 16.8 cm); 7" H (17.8 cm) on included custom stand.
