Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Chontal culture, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A haunting "ghost" type figure, string-cut from creamy white stone to display a columnar body with delineated limbs and a huge head. Surmounted by a headdress resembling a top hat, the stylized visage features drilled eyes, a pointed nose, and a slightly open mouth, all flanked by a large, triangular ears. Size: 2.2" L x 2.3" W x 8.3" H (5.6 cm x 5.8 cm x 21.1 cm); 8.8" H (22.4 cm) on included custom stand.
