Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A collection of several different forms of arrowheads used by Roman soldiers, seventeen with tangs, twenty-nine with sockets. All are bronze except for two of the tanged ones, which are iron. The largest tanged iron one has small concentric circles stamped across its face, which researchers believe are meant to be wards against the "evil eye". Size of largest: 1.4" W x 4.45" H (3.6 cm x 11.3 cm)

Provenance: private Carlton Collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired between 1965 and 1980
