Description:

Greece, ca. 5th to 3rd century CE. Rare and fine set of 7 silver roundels / phalera. These were attachments to uniforms of the day and would have adorned someone of high rank. An average foot soldier might have bronze phalera but only one from the elite class could be expected to wear adornments of near solid silver. Each in floral design and with small attachment holes. Size of largest: 2.375" W (6 cm)

Each phalera has been tested using XRF technology and each shows a metal content consistent with antiquity.
