Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Southern Italy, Apulia, ca. 325 BCE. A wonderfully intact miniature jug with a piriform body and strap handle that terminates at the flared rim. The black background has attained a near iridescence from the firing process. Vine and radiating line motifs are painted around the exterior in a pale orange/pink tone. This style of overpainting on blackware is known as Xenon ware, a uniquely Apulian version of an Attic style. Size: 2.6" L x 2.1" W x 2.6" H (6.6 cm x 5.3 cm x 6.6 cm)
