Description:

Greece, Hellenistic period, ca. 4th to 3rd centuries BCE. An earthenware votive figure of the goddess Aphrodite, mold-made and hollow. She sits cross-legged on a round, Classical-style column, nude aside from a headdress. One hand is raised to touch her head and her hair is in an elaborate updo style. Aphrodite, the goddess of love, sex, and beauty, is depicted here (as she always was) with the ideal Greek body - small, perky breasts and beautiful hair. This votive statue may have been placed in a small household altar, or given as an offering at a temple dedicated to the goddess. Comes with custom stand. Size: 2.8" L x 2.3" W x 7.45" H (7.1 cm x 5.8 cm x 18.9 cm); height on stand: 8" (20.3 cm).
