Description:

Greece, Tanagra, ca. 2nd half of 4th century BCE. Clay, white, red and pink paint. The god is seated with his legs apart and holds an amphora in his left arm. He has a chubby, rosy face and curly hair in which he wears a wreath of leaves and fruit. A length of fabric is wrapped around his head and left arm. A small purse with traces of pink paint below the amphora. 2-3/4"H (7.0 cm).

Provenance: Formerly Collection of Virzi, New York, label with an old inventory number between the wings.
