Greece, minted in Bactria, reign of Agathocles of Bactria, ca. 200 to 185 BCE. A beautiful silver coin. Obverse: Bust of Demetrios I right wearing elephant-skin headdress, evoking Alexander the Great, symbol of his conquests in India, which greatly expanded the Hellenistic and Graeco-Roman realm. Reverse: Nude Herakles standing, facing, crowning himself, holding club and lionskin. SNG ANS 187, MAC 1632/3. Size: 1.375" Diameter (3.5 cm)
