Description:

Greece, ca. 5th to 3rd century BCE. A pottery applique in the form of a satyr, one of Dionysus's male companions with goat-like features. These figures loved wine and women, and were ready for - and associated with - pleasure. Perhaps this applique graced some vessel made for drinking. Size: 2.9" W x 3.2" H (7.4 cm x 8.1 cm)
