Description:

Magna Graecia, northern territories, Ionia, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery kylix (wine cup) with a concave foot, a wide body with a rounded shoulder, a flared rim, and a pair of applied handles. The basin surface is colored with dark-brown pigment, and dozens of thin frets line the inside of the rim atop the cream-hued ground. The shoulder boasts panels of zigzagging lines in-between the solid-brown handles, and the underside of the foot is unadorned. Size: 6.375" W x 2.5" H (16.2 cm x 6.4 cm).

Small chips to rim and foot, fading to original pigmentation, and small pitting holes. Light earthen deposits throughout. Old inventory labels beneath foot.
