Description:

Magna Graecia, northern territories, Ionia, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A fine wheel-thrown pottery kylix (wine cup) with a flared foot, a squat stem, a wide bowl with a flared rim, and a pair of parabolic handles. The interior of the basin is decorated with a black-glazed 'bullseye' motif, and areas of the basin, exterior, handles, and foot are embellished with additional swaths of glaze. Faint silver iridescence has formed across most of the glazed areas and imbue the piece with a stylish presentation. Size: 8.75" W x 4.1" H (22.2 cm x 10.4 cm).
