Description:

Greece, Hellenistic, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A mold-made terracotta female figure, perhaps a maenad given that one of her breasts is revealed, standing upon an integral pedestal. She is otherwise draped with a long garment of copious folds of fabric, holding one end with her right hand, and presenting a delicate visage topped by a wavy, centrally parted coiffure that is partially drawn back under her ample diadem/headdress. Size: 3.625" W x 10.9" H (9.2 cm x 27.7 cm)

  • Condition: Upper body repaired from several pieces, with chipping and adhesive residue along break lines. Abrasions and encrustations to base, body, and head, with fading to original pigment, and softening to some finer details. Nice earthen deposits and faint remains of original pigment throughout.
