Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A lovely pair of earrings comprised of 83% gold (equivalent to 18K+ gold) with thin pins and thick pin bodies wrapped with thin gold wire. The main body of each earring depicts a stylized lion head with flowing manes, cupped ears, short snouts, and conical bodies adorned with gold filigree. A modern gold shepherd's hook is twisted atop the original suspension pin making this a wearable pair of gorgeous ancient earrings! Size of each (both are relatively similar): 0.6" W x 0.625" H (1.5 cm x 1.6 cm); quality of gold: 83% (equivalent to 18K+); total weight: 5.0 grams.
