Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 2nd to 1st century BCE. A beautiful singular earring formed from 77% gold (equivalent to 18K+) with a crescent-shaped body surmounted by a thin shank. Beneath the body is a pair of dangling wire ornaments with spiraling midsections that hang from an integral suspension loop. Warm patina has formed across the accessory. Size: 0.625" W x 1" H (1.6 cm x 2.5 cm); quality of gold: 77% (equivalent to 18K+); total weight: 1.4 grams.
