Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Greece, Geometric Period, ca. 750 to 700 BCE. A striking cast bronze votive offering in the form of a carinated vessel with a protruding knob end at the bottom and an abstract bird handle emerging from one end of the rim - the avian creature in profile with a long beak, round eyes, and full tail. A fabulous example of metalwork from the Geometric period, a time of dynamic growth and transformation, the era of Homer's Iliad and the Odyssey, that formed the roots of Classical Greece! A beautiful piece with an elegant silhouette and gorgeous green patina! Stand included. Size: 2.875" H (7.3 cm); 4.125" H (10.5 cm) on stand
