Greece and northern Italy, ca. 6th to 5th centuries BCE. Most folks are very aware of the scarabs made in ancient Egypt, but many collectors are not aware that scarabs were also created by the Greeks and Etruscans at the same time period. This lot is comprised of a Greek scarab in deep red/orange carnelian. It features a lion in attack mode. Comes with clay impression. The next example comes from Etruria, and shows an archer with bow drawn. Rare to find one, let alone 2 such fine examples! Size: .5" L (1.3 cm)
