Description:

Greece, probably Hellenistic, ca. 300 BCE. A smooth, round bronze mirror with an incised, abstract pattern that appears to be grape vines around the edge of one side. That side also has a slight rim around what would have once been a reflective surface. Greek women in red-figure pottery are often depicted looking at themselves in round mirrors, and mirrors like this one are found in the graves of higher status Greek women. Mirrors may also have played a religious role, used in divining rituals. Size: 6.2" W (15.7 cm)
