Description:

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, ca. 750 BCE. A fine collection of 5 pottery dishes all presenting traditional Cypriot characteristics with circular feet and sloped walls that rise to broad, annular rims. Four vessels have been adorned with concentric circle motifs: 2 with black pigment on red terracotta, 1 with black on cream slip, and the last with red on buff ground. The remaining dish boasts a rich hue of burnt sienna and a pair of annular drill holes in its periphery. Size: 8.4" Diameter x 1.8" H (21.3 cm x 4.6 cm)

  • Condition: Two repaired with break lines visible. Smaller of repaired has losses to handles and peripheries. Red on buff dish has stable pressure fissures. All have expected surface wear as shown. Repainting in areas of some. Otherwise, 3 are intact and all are great with nice earthen deposits.
