Greek, Corinthian, ca. 6th century BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery aryballos with a slightly rounded but stable base, a spherical body with a gently curved shoulder, a narrow neck surmounted by a collared rim, and a squat handle joining rim and shoulder. The front of the cream-hued ground is adorned with a broad, five-petaled flower with red and black hues, and the verso features an abstract motif, perhaps representative of a bird or flower. The neck is ringed with a register of droplet-shaped frets, and thick bands of dark pigment surround the rim. Size: 1.9" Diameter x 2.9" H (4.8 cm x 7.4 cm)
