Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Campania, ca. 360 to 320 BCE. A fine wheel-thrown pottery mug with a broad base, gently tapered walls ringed with five horizontal ribs, a rounded rim surrounding the deep basin, and a narrow ring handle. The entire vessel is enveloped in lustrous jet-black glaze that imbues it with the signature presentation of fine Campanian pottery. Size: 3.3" W x 2.7" H (8.4 cm x 6.9 cm).

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple large pieces, with light resurfacing and overpainting along break lines. Minor abrasions and nicks to base, walls, rim, and handle, with light fading to scattered areas of black glaze. Light earthen deposits and great glaze remains throughout.
