Magna Graecia, Southern Italy, Campania, ca. 360 to 320 BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown pottery mug with a planar base, a slightly tapered cylindrical body, a flared lip, and an applied ring handle. The body is accentuated with seven slender horizontal ribs, and the entire vessel - save for the area beneath the foot - is covered in lustrous black glaze. An attractive example of ancient Campanian artistry! Size: 3.375" W x 3.1" H (8.6 cm x 7.9 cm).
