Description:

Greek, ca. 480 to 450 BCE. Situla in the shape of a lion's head with paws hanging downward. The head is depicted in powerful relief with triangular ears, bulging eyes, pronounced brows and a large mouth. Reverse flat. The top is concave and has a horizontal drill hole to attach the ring-handle of the situla. Size: 2-1/8"H (5.2 cm).
