Ancient Greece, 4th to 5th century BCE. This black glazed ceramic kylix is a splendid example of the most popular drinking cup in Ancient Greece. Flanked by long sweeping handles on either side and topped with a flared rim, this ornamental stemmed chalice is almost entirely covered in black glaze with the exception of the circumference of its base and the underside and affixed area of each handle. Note the mirrorlike iridescence of the black glazed interior! A fun conversation piece for your next symposium! Size: 8.25" L x 5.25" W x 3" H (21 cm x 13.3 cm x 7.6 cm)
